Protein PPR Untuk Mereparasi Protein RNA

Jurnal KeSimpulan.com - Temuan protein dapat untuk men-debug genom. Sebuah trik dari tukang ledeng, mengapa harus mengganti pipa bocor jika bisa ditambal?

Sebuah kesalahan tunggal dalam DNA terjadi disepanjang jalur. Disalin ke RNA yang kemudian menghasilkan protein rusak yang mendasari beberapa kelainan genetik. Sebuah tim meletakkan dasar dengan menciptakan alat yang dirancang untuk mengikat RNA rusak dan memperbaiki produksi protein memperbaiki.

Alat-alat itu sendiri juga merupakan protein berdasarkan identifikasi kelas khusus binding RNA protein yang diteliti selama12 tahun.

"Salah satu visi kerja sebagai debugger genom, mereka memperbaiki mutasi pada tingkat RNA," kata Ian Small, biolog University of Western Australia.

Ian dan rekan meneliti selama 12 tahun dan sekarang mambawa hasil bagaimana ikatan protein RNA disebut PPR menempel pada RNA.

Protein PPR membawa pola asam amino yang menjadi dasar RNA. Tim menyadari bahwa hanya 2 asam amino dalam masing-masing pola yang menentukan dengan tepat bagian mana dari sebuah molekul RNA dengan protein PPR mengikat.

Temuan mereka membuka jalan untuk membangun desain protein PPR dapat ditargetkan dan memperbaiki gen-gen tertentu untuk berbagai kepentingan biologis.
