Ledakan Badai Vertikal Di Troposfer Mars

Jurnal KeSimpulan.com - Badai menendang kepulan debu ke udara Mars. Ledakan badai vertikal menyebabkan lapisan debu mengapung kilometer di atas permukaan Mars.

Pengamatan wahana orbital European Space Agency Mars Express yang dikombinasikan dengan simulasi komputer menunjukkan badai individu dan debu yang terisolasi memungkinkan untuk melihat kondisi lingkungan Mars yang lebih rumit.

Badai lokal memainkan peran kunci dalam siklus debu, namun siklus hidup mereka masih teka-teki.

Sinar Matahari yang diserap debu partikel atmosfer diradiasikan ke udara sekitarnya, meningkatkan suhu hingga 20oC.

Peningkatan suhu udara seperti efek domino yang menjalar dengan kecepatan hingga 10 meter per detik.

"Temuan kami tentang konveksi debu memiliki implikasi kuat untuk siklus Mars, struktur termal, dinamika atmosfer, awan mikrofisika, kimia, dan eksplorasi robot dan manusia," kata Aymeric Spiga, planetolog Universite Pierre et Marie Curie, dan rekan.

Ledakan konveksi vertikal disebut "rocket dust storms" atau "conio-cumulonimbus" mengangkat partikel debu hingga 30 sampai 50 kilometer ke troposfer Mars. Awan debu kemudian menyebar horisontal dengan skala besar angin. Membentuk lapisan debu terpisah.

Ketika malam loop konveksi berhenti, namun partikel debu melayang turun ke tanah sangat lambat sehingga jumlah materi yang signifikan tersuspensi dan tersisa di udara pada hari berikutnya ketika loop konveksi mulai lagi.

Secara teori badai di planet Mars mencapai ketinggian maksimal di daerah beriklim tropis sepanjang musim semi dan di utara ketika musim panas. Dampak iklim Mars perlu diperhitungkan dalam model iklim global. Badai menghasilkan medan listrik, petir dan emisi Radio seperti yang terjadi di Bumi.

Bagaimanapun atmosfer Mars tidak serumit dibanding Bumi sehingga memberi test yang baik untuk mempelajari peristiwa individu tanpa banyak komplikasi. Meskipun sedikit berbeda, banyak hal-hal baru tentang atmosfer Mars yang dapat diterapkan ke Bumi.
