Angkat Barbel Kurangi Risiko Diabetes Tipe 2

Jurnal KeSimpulan.com - Barbelan terkait resiko diabetes yang lebih rendah. Latihan beban berkorelasi dengan rendahnya risiko diabetes tipe 2 di Amerika Serikat.

"Kita semua tahu latihan aerobik bermanfaat untuk diabetes, banyak penelitian telah melihat itu, tetapi tidak ada penelitian melihat latihan beban. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa latihan beban penting untuk diabetes dan mungkin sama pentingnya dengan latihan aerobik," kata Frank Hu, di Harvard School of Public Health.

Hu dan rekan melapor ke Archives of Internal Medicine menggunakan data lebih dari 32.000 pria.

Responden diberi kuesioner setiap 2 tahun sekali selama periode tahun 1990-2008 dimana rata-rata 4 dari 1000 pria mengembangkan diabetes tipe 2 setiap tahun.

Risiko terkena gangguan gula darah hanya separuh dari pria yang melakukan latihan cardio atau aerobik (misalnya jalan cepat, jogging atau bermain tenis setidaknya 150 menit seminggu).

Pria dengan latihan beban 150 menit atau lebih mengalami penurunan sepertiga risiko terlepas apakah mereka latihan aerobik. Latihan beban meningkatkan massa otot yang mengurangi obesitas perut, meskipun tidak memotong massa tubuh secara keseluruhan.

Temuan tidak membuktikan link langsung karena banyak pria yang tetap fit mungkin juga lebih sehat dengan cara lain, namun para peneliti melakukan yang terbaik untuk menjelaskan perbedaan potensial tersebut termasuk usia, merokok dan diet.

"Saya kira manfaat latihan beban adalah nyata. Setiap jenis latihan bermanfaat untuk pencegahan diabetes, tetapi latihan beban dapat digabungkan dengan latihan aerobik untuk mendapatkan hasil terbaik," kata Hu.
