Jangkrik Jurassic Archabollus musicus Mengalun Nada

Jurnal KeSimpulan.com - Hutan Jurassic mungkin tempat bising di malam hari. Suara tidak memfosil. Tapi kicauan sayap Jangkrik Jurassic mengalun 165 juta tahun lalu.

Suara lenyap selamanya setelah beberapa detik, tetapi struktur sayap yang memfosil dan terawat dengan baik, biolog pada hari ini memanggil kembali register notasi musikal tertua di muka Bumi. Katydida atau Jangkrik Semak membuat suara dengan menggosok tepi satu sayap terhadap serangkaian permukaan kasar di sisi lain.

Bentuk gir menentukan apakah panggilan suara kompleks mengandung frekuensi atau nada murni.

Fosil Tonggeret Jurassic (Archabollus musicus) yang baru ditemukan di China memiliki struktur sayap untuk nada murni 6,4 kilohertz.

Dalam kisaran terdengar manusia, kata Fernando Montealegre-Zapata, biolog University of Bristol, Inggris.

Hutan Jurassic mungkin tempat bising di malam hari. Ada bukti evolusi katak bernyanyi pada waktu ini. Frekuensi tunggal berdurasi 16 milidetik membantu katydida membedakan spesies di tengah hiruk-pikuk dengan serangga lainnya.

Karena semua katydida modern yang menggunakan suara ini ketika aktif di malam hari, maka Archabollus musicus adalah nokturnal untuk menghindari predasi dinosaurus kecil yang mengais di siang hari.
